[Abstract] Angiogenesis is an important factor of the genesis, progression and metastasis of rectal cancer. With low-molecular-weight gadolinium contrast agents, dynamic contrast-enhanced magnetic resonance imaging (DCE-MRI) can be used to evaluate the vascular characteristics non-invasively. Using fast T1-weighted imaging to continuously scan the region of interest, the time-signal intensity curve of the pixel in the region of interest was obtained. And the time-signal intensity curve was analyzed by using the pharmacokinetic model to calculate the perfusion parameters of rectal cancer, such as Ktrans, Ve, Kep, which can reflect the microcirculation permeability of the tissue or lesion of the region of interest. The basic principles of DCE-MRI, the advance in the research of the diagnosis, the classification and staging of rectal cancer with DCE-MRI at home and abroad are reviewed in the present paper.
