[Abstract] Major depressive disorder (MDD) is an affective disorder, characterized by a marked and persistent mood depression. The gender difference of MDD begins at puberty, and women are more likely to become depressed, and this trend will continue to adulthood. The ratio of male and female depression is about 12. In recent years, neurobiological studies of MDD have shown that the structural and functional change of amygdala and prefrontal network is closely related to MDD.
