[Abstract] Objective: Using diffusion tensor imaging (DTI) to investigate the subtle structural changes in the hypothalamus of patients with and without hypertension and sleep disorders.Materials and Methods: Twenty patients with hypertension and sleep disorder from the Second Affiliated Hospital of Xinjiang Medical University were selected as the case group. Twenty patients with hypertension without sleep disturbance were taken as the control group, using DTI technology score of two groups of patients with hypothalamic fractional anisotropy (FA) and apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC) value. Statistical methods were used to retrospectively compare the differences of FA and ADC values between the two groups, and evaluate the correlation between the two groups of FA value, ADC values. Results: FA=0.31±0.11 in the case group, FA=0.50±0.12 in the control group, P=0.00. The FA value in the case group was significantly lower than that in the control group, and the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05). ADC in the case group was 1.84±0.73, ADC in the control group was 1.45±0.41, P=0.045. ADC value in the case group was higher than that in the control group, with statistically significant difference (P<0.05). At the same time, it was found that the analysis results of the correlation between the duration of hypertension and the score of sleep disorders showed that r=0.836, P<0.001, indicating that there was a significant positive correlation between the duration of hypertension and the score of sleep disorders (P <0.05).Conclusions: DTI technology can be found that there are subtle structural changes in the hypothalamus in patients with and without hypertension and sleep disorders.
