[Abstract] This article introduced the clinical manifestations and the pathological changes in multiple sclerosis (MS). The typical MRI signs, including "fried egg sign", "open-ring sign", "arclike sign", and "halo sign" in acute/subacute stage, "subcallosal striation sign", "dot-dash sign" in early stage with callosal involvement, "Dawson's fingers" along the white matter venules, and typical findings in the spinal cord, were described and elucidated. These characteristic signs are important and helpful in the diagnosis and differential diagnosis of MS, and are valuable in the assessment of disease progression and evaluation of therapeutic effect.
