[Abstract] Diabetes mellitus is a kind of systematic metabolic disease, which is usually accompanied with multi-system complications. And the cognitive dysfunction, cerebral neurophysiological and structural changes of diabetes have become the focus of current clinical researches. The fMRI is noninvasive and can provide information on the anatomical, functional and metabolic aspects of the brain. fMRI has been used as diagnostic tools for many brain diseases, including diabetic encephalopathy. This review focuses on the current situation and progress of multimodality functional magnetic resonance imaging in diabetic encephalopathy.
